Description:
First flown in late 1928, the PCA-1A was the second of three experimental Autogiro models that were the first successful American- built rotorcraft and is the oldest existing U.S. built rotorcraft. Harold F. Pitcairn, who founded Pitcairn Aircraft also founded Eastern Airways (later Eastern Airlines).
